Getting another dog when yours is a picky eater
Post Body

This seems to be a common thing with Chiweenies, that they will only eat air fryer chicken. I haven’t done a poll or anything but everybody I tell about my dog, they are mine too! Usually it’s a Chihuahua because I don’t know any other chiweeny owners.

I’d love to get her a buddy from a rescue but the likelihood of finding another of this breed is unlikely & I hate Chihuahuas, love doxies. She’s more ween than chi.

It took nearly a year to find something she’d stick to more than a day or a week. Praise be! But will dogs pick up another’s habits, including dietary? Like the new dog might demand chicken or maybe she’d stop being a brat & eat what the other dog will?

She will eat dried up leftover cat food while I’m fixing her dinner. She hoovers up discarded food when walking. I’m constantly digging things out of her mouth. But a steamy dish of chicken (must be air fried, not baked, not crockpot) will get snubbed. I catch her licking dirt so I wonder if she has pica.

Which leads me to another question. Since her diet it 90% plain chicken and the rest is dried cat food, should she be getting a nutritional supplement, like iron?

Thank you for any advice!
