So I'm not trying to check if the number in the article is exactly accurate but rather, if the number seems "close to reality". Below is an excerpt from an article from 2021.
"Informality has become the defining feature of urban employment in China since the implementation of economic reforms. The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimate for informal employment in China today is around 54.4%"
When it says informal employment, it's referring to jobs that don't have formal paperwork and the employment is not reported to the government(thus, no tax). I'm very surprised informal jobs are estimated to be 54.4% according to that article. Do you think it is somewhat close to reality in China today?
