I’m made a delicious batch yesterday using my own tried and true recipe, plus star anise and a little extra hot stuff- 3 habaneros, 90,000 SHU, 3 jalapeños, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. I knew I was making it spicy but didn’t realize I was making it unbearably hot. Anyway my guest for dinner couldn’t eat it. I didn’t have sour cream or anything else to knock it down a notch or two. Guess I should’ve taken some out before seasoning it.
I hated that she couldn’t eat it, and all I had for her was cornbread. This definitely was not the hottest I’ve ever made, and I could eat it without drinking water. But it was out of her league. Does anyone know of a way to bring it down for people who can’t tolerate heat?
