Preface: I have a student who is 10 years-old and autistic. His parents do not teach him manners or behavioral concepts at all because “he is autistic and must be happy at all times.” Rant for another day, but due to this behavior everyday the child will unmute himself and scream over myself talking. He then signs himself off the call when I mute him back and continue speaking. Aaaaand mom sends me vicious messages daily for this. (Mom took away his behavior supports and just says it’s my job to watch him all day when I address her so I just ignore her.) Anywho, back to the story, I promise that was relevant.

So in the middle of teaching virtually about Volcanoes my 10 year-old autistic student unmutes himself and talks over another kid (who was speaking) about how he is grateful covid happened because “people are stupid to keep having children” and “humanity needs to just die” and how “Trump brought out the idiots who are having babies as the world is going to crabcakes (whatever that means) and not getting vaccines because of his moronic levels of thinking.” As I was muting him ANOTHER parent started arguing with him using breeder logic and talking over the class. Oh hell no.

As I am furiously muting both of them, and they are unmuting themselves (this parent and my autistic kid) the parent causes my autistic kid to go into meltdown mode and sign off the videocall. Then as the parent sat there with a smug face her own child goes “(autistic kid) is right.” And the smug lady opened her mouth and decided to argue with me when I muted her microphone again. Enough was enough and I said unkind words, accosted her for disrupting the instruction, and removed her/her child from the videocall. The kids were speechless to see their teacher kick another adult off of the call. When one kid raised her hand to share her opinion about what just went down I just said “nope” and moved on.

Yes that happened. Yes I am shocked. I am more shocked about immature breeding adults who choose to pick fights with autistic children then the topic discussed but what a time to be alive. I do not want to check my email tomorrow but there is hope some of these kids will wake up and not be future breeders.
