My spouse is getting a vasectomy in a few months! We're feeling SO much relief. It's been almost 3 years since an unplanned pregnancy that completely cemented our desire to be childfree (at least, biological-childfree. We're still open to fostering at some point in our lives).
I'm excited, I'm relieved, I'm ready to be off hormonal birth-control, and I wish I wasn't so afraid to be open about this choice.
I've made statements with friends and family along the lines of, "yeah, we're not having kids."
I'm used to the "you'll change your mind!" response. But with the surgery, that's no longer an option.
I'm curious about how others have dealt with this. Did you tell your friends/family? Is it better to keep it private? All advice is appreciated!
