So we are taking a family trip and my parents rented an AirBnb that has one full house and an add-on. We've stayed there before but with just my parents, aunt/uncles, and girlfriend. The add-on has two closet-sized rooms with a bed, and a tiny bathroom adjoining the two rooms. My parents and aunt/uncle stay in the main house and we were in the add-on. For context, the rooms are so small that my gf and I had to store our suitcases in the adjoining room because there was no floor space. The bathroom also doesn't have a locking door.
This year, my brother and sister-in-law are joining with their 9 month old baby. I hate babies. They're stinky, disgusting, they take up excessive space, they're loud, and they limit everything everyone does. They have so much gear and take forever to get ready ... Then everything revolves around their sleep time and eating time. Ugh.
So my gf and I got our own Airbnb. I explained to her that we want to be able to be loud, come and go as we please, and not have to be on baby eggshells while ON VACATION. Fuck no.
My family said that we are being selfish and we should accommodate for their baby. I told her no, it was their decision to have a baby, and it's our decision to not be around babies. Now even extended family is sending me messages saying we're being so inconsiderate to everyone and selfish and not a full part of the family.
Tldr; family is pissed that my gf and I won't share a room with my brother, SIL, and their 9 month old
The only way I could justify their logic, is theyโre upset they lost 2 possible free babysitters. NTA.
