If I don’t have to go through another 18+ years of this, then I don’t care if I’m "being selfish"

I (22M) really don’t want to live like this again. I know I’m still very young, but I think that because of all of the horrible things that have happened this year… as well as the last couple years since I turned 12… I really would like to avoid going through all of that again.

We’ve already seen firsthand how schools cause low self-esteem that remains in many people for years and years. We’ve already had to keep living with childhood trauma. We’ve already seen the overall lack of empathy towards human beings over the course of this pandemic that won’t go away.

If being childfree means I won’t have to repeat the cycle all over again, then I will gladly remain childfree. If that makes me selfish… so be it.
