Post Body

I'm new, although lurked a while, so apologies if I flared it wrong.

I'm in tech, I'm a dev. Currently I work for a business that supports essential businesses.

Fuck me, I am tired. I am so tired. I have my own issues that have nothing to do with my both childfree/childless status (well, not entirely. I'm not capable of having them, I"m not capable of taking care of them. some of the issues I deal with interplay with that but whatever..tangent) I'm grateful I have a job. I get that many don't. Thank god for my boyfriend who has been doing a lot of the (literal) heavy lifting for the garden around here (good man. such a good man..i'm out of shape and need to work on that but he's done the dirt hauling for the most part) and easily his share of chores (maybe more than).

But I am so "would be angry if I wasn't too exhausted to be angry". One of my coworkers has done maybe 5% of the work I do, and that situation doesn't look to change anytime soon. The reason? Kids at home. Despite having as far as i know a stay at home spouse, the two kids apparently run wild all day and interrupt them every 5 seconds and they "cant" work and are super stressed out.

On one hand, I'm glad my company is understanding of personal situations.

On the other hand, all the work I needed to be done by anybody else is now falling back on my plate again - some of which blocks the things I committed to do. I can't say shit on most of my social media because all my child-having friends are super upset that parents arent getting more attention, and all of my laid-off/reduced hours friends are both wishing they had a paycheck (fair) but also like OMG WE"RE ALL SO BORED. Que the why isn't your house spotless and all your shit done and pickup a new hobby? I see that one more time I may hit someone.

Bitches I have 18000 hobbies and time for none. I barely keep it together under normal circumstances (thats just me, i'm a very low energy exhausted person and thats just life), what fucking extra time? My workload didn't decrease it got worse and I'm getting totally dumped on by the fact that since I don't have kids, and i'm also not newly married (like another coworker or two), i clearly don't have the responsibilities they do so blah blah blah something bullshit something.

I'm more senior than the lot of them so it's expected in general I will do more work (that's fair, I get paid more too). But i'm about to just screaming fit at the lot of them that because I usually give 100%, and pinch hit long hours ALREADY that doesn't mean I can magically pull more out of my ass because everybody else has faaaaaaamily.

I don't have the stats to back it up (yet I'm working on getting those), but rough ballpark estimate is that i've done probably 20x the work of two of my coworkers (each, not together), and at least 5x the work of the one who at least tries and is just more junior. Under normal circumstances that should look more like 5x and 3x.

The real kicker is we'll call him "kick ass coworker". has a kid. but also has a stay at home spouse. His working ability? he's fucking helping make up for some of my other coworkers. He's taking names and kicking ass and apparently understands that just because he has a kid doesn't mean he gets to slack. Thank god. Because otherwise it'd all be on me and I think I'd have gone stark raving mad.

TlDr: fucking tired of working late and being exhausted I have my own issues and instead I'm making up for the goddamn parents at work.
