Post Body

I don't watch much television, but I was away on vacation in Cuba, and my resort of choice had a choice of English language channels.

So I'm flicking through and I saw a "comedy" program featuring a very heavily pregnant lady (triplets on the way) and another couple with a screwed up/failing marriage. The pregnant lady seems to regret getting knocked up and even fires back at her husband with a "Thank for you the bathroom sex!". The show follows on with the other couple not talking about their problems and the husband complaining about "Not being listened to." The show eventually goes on to show the very pregnant lady trying to head to the store to acquire ingredients for a belated birthday cake for her sperm donor. Half of the show is her struggling with basic tasks and trying to get to the store, while her husband is shown to a be hero because all he wants to do is spend more time with his wife/babies on the way. Oh, and did I mention that the husband is mentally unstable? He was shown speaking to his Zippo lighter and saying that his wife was possessed by demons...

And the show cuts to the other couple - the husband works as a fireman, and there's a baby left on the doorstep of the firehouse. The husband in this case finds the kid, and brings him home and says to his wife "We couldn't have kids, and that's why we strayed apart in our relationship. He'd be the miracle child that brings us back together..."

And that was the point I turned off television in disgust and I had to explain why to my aunt and mother why I thought it was gross as hell.

Seriously, what the hell, writers? Nothing about both scenarios was funny OR cute. Just annoying..
