It is Sunday. This morning I woke up without an alarm clock to the sweet sound of silence, made some pancakes and brewed my favorite type of (expensive) coffee, and watered my plants. The weather is beautiful. I have brunch with friends in a couple of hours and then I’m meeting up with a buddy later to 420 it up (which is completely legal where I live) and have adult playtime in the bedroom. Right now I am currently soaking in a bubble bath while sipping more of my coffee. I am debating if I should choose to soak for hours or get out and read a nice book without interruptions.
The purpose of this post? To revel in a glorious day living without children. No Sunday morning cleaning with kids, no Sunday morning grocery shopping/meal prep for kid dietary restrictions, allergies, or tantrums over foods they don’t like. No cramming laundry and fighting for our shared washer/dryer in the apartment complex (which are dominated on Sunday by families anyways). No Sunday sports events for the kids, no forcing kids to do their homework before school this week, no temper tantrums to deal with, no kid messes to clean, the list of positives go on and on. The cherry on top? We have the day off tomorrow in my company, so I can decide later if I want to set an alarm clock and go to bed early or if I want to stay up all night doing nothing. There is something satisfying about having a choice of whether or not to eat fast food at 2 A.M. and have leftovers in the fridge if I don’t finish or not leaving the house at all. Bonus for no kid accommodations, scheduling, dealing with temper tantrums about the fast food and/or child bedtime.
How is your Sunday going?
