Perfect Saturdays without kids are amazing
Post Body

Happy Saturday!

The weather is beautiful. I woke up to no alarm clock, made my favorite coffee ā˜•ļø, and watered the children (my plants) in my PJs while enjoying the sweet sound of silence. I made pancakes from scratch (no children complaining or sharing!), finished a leisurely book, and got an invitation from friends to go hiking. On the way back from this hike we plan to grab some smoothies (again, no children demanding for certain flavors or complaining about our selection), take edibles, and do art. Going home and planning bedtime is going to be whenever we decide. (There will be no arguing with kids about sleep, so nice.) I will then personally decide if I want to catch up on some of my Hulu shows I am watching or read another book in peace before not setting an alarm clock again! I could even do a night drive at 2 A.M. f I choose because Iā€™m not limited to watching kids! I will also wake up to no food missing in the morning.

Tomorrow I can choose to do chores or go grocery shopping without time or food constraints. I could also sit in silence and do nothing without child obligations if I choose.

Meanwhile ā€¦

I just hopped on social media to see parents had posted going to kid sportsā€™ events at 4/5 A.M., parents wishing they could day-drink or get high but ā€œneeding to fulfill kid obligationsā€ or posting messy pics of toddler temper tantrums (but also captioning how much they ā€˜loveā€™ their lives) and being exhausted while showing themselves cleaning messy houses with toys everywhere. One person even posted they ā€œlive for their kidsā€ while trying to bathe a dog after their child had smeared poop everywhere. Schools are starting to go on summer break and some parents (specifically moms on the ig feed) are already complaining about being home with their kids all day. One dad brought his kids to the pool and lasted a total of five minutes before leaving after being kicked out due to his children splashing other people and screaming.

I am convinced most parents use their social media platforms to convince themselves they do not regret falling for the life script of having children. Misery loves company, right?

Thank you for reading if you made it this far, how is your weekend going?
