How to support my friend after an abortion while in an emotional stressful situation myself?

Post Body

Hey everyone. I just landed in a weird situation.

Feb 8 i will be taken to the hospital Because cancer in my spinal cord metastased again and they have to try to remove it. It’s not without risks (like partial paralyis). We thought it would be a good idea to book an all inclusive to the red sea (i’m from the Netherlands and it’s quite cold and dark here) to enjoy and have some good rest before my surgery.

Now my niece suddenly discovers she is pregnant, 3 days ago. Today she is going to the clinic to get an abortion pill. This can cause some heavy emotions for some time, they say. Thing is, we depart to the red sea next week.

I really want to be there for her but i really don’t have all my energy to spend on comforting her.. i’m in pain and want to enjoy as much as possible, because I don’t know how my physical state will be after the surgery. Her emotions could be very draining and i want to go into my surgery with a healthy amount of physical end emotional energy.

Edit for clarification: she got the abortion done today and next week i will be sharing a hotel room in egypt with her for 6 days.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
