I want Rangers this year, or some other kind of meat bird will actually forage and dig unlike Cornish crosses. The problem I'm running into is that my local stores only sell Cornish, and the Ranger breeders I've found have a 25 bird minimum order.
I'm looking for like 10-12 to pen up where my garden goes until they're ready for processing. The goal being they'll work the ground where I'm not planting.
If I absolutely have to I guess I can get more layers to fill out the order, but I'm already producing more eggs than I can get rid of so I'd really rather not.
I'm also willing to spend more for pullets so I can harvest all at once instead of every time a roo starts crowing. I don't like roosters, neighbors don't like roosters, not dealing with them. Don't think that's important but throwing it out there anyway.
So any hatcheries without a 25 bird minimum or am I going to have to figure out incubating and hatching or make my layer flock bigger and buy all the extra stuff that goes along with it?
