So, yesterday, I was biking home in the bike lane, when a SUV, slowly creeped into the bike line. I shouted something about a a biker being there but I soon ran out of space and slammed my brakes on. A string of obscenities came out of my mouth as his car grazed my bike. Thankfully, I was ok and my bike was OK. He stayed parked and rolled his window down. Rather than get into a fight with me, he simply said this:
"I'm sorry brother, I didn't see you there, are you ok?"
My adrenaline fuel rage subsided, I did a quick inventory and said "You need to be more careful and watch the bike lane. I'm ok"
"Again man, I'm really sorry"
"It's ok, I'm ok, please be more careful"
"Once again, I'm really sorry"
"It's ok, thanks for stopping and checking on me"
And that was that. So please, and this goes for BOTH drivers and bikers, remember that these are just normal people trying to get to work or get home. Yeah, some of them drive like pricks, but that's not excuse not to be civil.
