After a week spent out of the country, I checked in on my car which I keep parked in free parking on Huron in River North. I drive it about once a week and try to find free parking at the same spot given it’s location. Yesterday, I go to check in on the car and it’s not there. I go online and look up my license plate to find two records from 3/13. The first being a relocation record stating my car had been moved at 3:37 AM from 77 N Huron to 729 LaSalle. As most people know LaSalle has free parking, but only doing certain hours of the day (can’t park on LaSalle during rush hours). The next record stated that my car was towed on the same day (no time given) for being parked on LaSalle during rush hour. Is it me, or is this not absolutely ridiculous that a department relocated my car from a 100% free spot to LaSalle with absolutely zero warning, no signage, and they haven’t even written a ticket.
My first thought of course is to challenge this in court, but are there better actions to take here?
