I live in Chicago and don't have a car. I want to start using the rental scooter services to get around (and possibly even buying an electric scooter of my own if I like them enough). However, I have no prior experience with electric scooters, and it's even been over a decade since I last rode a bike.
Where's a good place to practice using a scooter? It's gotta be some place that allows the rental scooters (i.e. no lakeshore trail and nothing in the suburbs), and ideally it'd be out of the way and have a relatively soft landing.
Also, I'm fairly far north; Andersonville/Edgewater/Uptown area. I'm okay with taking public transit if there's a really good place to learn but obviously would prefer stuff within walking distance if possible.
