Both players develop knights, immediately take their knights back, then play the exact same moves again?
Post Body

Was playing with the chess.com opening explorer, and noticed that there was one curious game during which black played Nf3, then took the knight back. Since the game was listed as 0-1 in favor of black, and that seems like a big dumb dumb in general, i checked it out and discovered, they both made curious moves in the very beginning.

I tried googling if it's a thing, and nothing came up. So I'm kinda assuming it might've just been a weird "uh-what" moment. Maybe a mistake on blacks part, and the gentlemanly white decided to give black a chance to play a proper opening instead of exploiting an obvious mistake.

I was just wondering if this is a thing that happens sometimes - like, chess players deciding to give their opponent a second chance to re-think their opening or whatever? Or if it's just a weird, one-off thing that happened once for who knows what reason.

In either case, i thought it was a fun thing to discover. It can't be super common if it's only listed in one game on chess.com, right? So at the very least, maybe some of you will find it curious as well :D
