I've played chess on and off but never on a serious level. I'm a sophomore in college and recently had to take a medical leave of absence to deal with a torn meniscus, thought in the mean time I should pick up a hobby that I can do while not on my legs for the next couple of months and chess seems pretty attractive.
I've watched a few Gotham Chess videos, but was wondering specifically if anyone had a great resource such as a book that could introduce fundamental openings, strategies, chess philosophies, and other stuff so I can get the basics down.
My DMs are open and I really appreciate any advice.
