A Game where I miss counterplay in the endgame
Post Body

Another long otb game I played. Time control was G/90 SD 30. I am black.

1. e4 c5
2. Nf3 d6
3. Bb5  Nd7
4. d4 cxd4
5. Qxd4 a6
6. Bc4 Ngf6
7. O-O e6 {b5 is probably a better choice here.  It would prepare to develop the bishop with tempo.}
8. a4 Be7 {b5 is no longer possible}
9. Nc3 O-O
10. e5 dxe5  {I think I took this in the wrong order} (10. ... Nxe5 11. Nxe5 dxe5 12. Qxe5 Bd6) {And I can set up a battery on h2 with tempo}.
11. Nxe5 Qc7 (11. ... Bc5 12 Qe4 Nxe5 13. Qxe5 Qb6) {My pieces are more active in this line then in the game continuation.}
12. Bf4 Nxe5
13. Bxe5 Rd8
14. Qf4 Qc5 {A mistake.  This allows white to double my pawns.}
15. Rad1 Bd7
16. Bxf6 Bxf6
17. Ne4 Qe5
18. Nxf6  Qxf6
19. Qxf6 gxf6
20. Bb3 Bc6
21. f3 f5
22. Kf2 Kf8
23. Ke2 Ke7
24. Rxd8 Rxd8
25. Rd1 Rxd1 {My idea was to take and bring my king to the center before white could get their.  However I didn't really have a concrete idea of what this would acomplish.  I think at some point I need to play b5 to prevent c4. And then I need to advance my f and e pawns to get some counter play. }
26. Kxd1 Kd7
27. Kd2 Kd6
28. Ke3 Ke5
29. f4  Kf6 {kd6 followed by f6 and e5 is better.}
30. g3 Ke7 {Note all of my pawn are on light squares where he has more of his pawns on dark squares.}
31. Kd4 Kd6
32. c4 Be4 {This is a useless move.  I really didn't have a plan here.}
33. c5  Kd7
34. Bd1 Bc6 { White's plan is to attack the king side and then after I have defended it to create a passed pawn with his Queen side majority.}
35. b3 Ke7
36. Ke3 Kf6
37. Bf3 Bxf3
38. Kxf3 h5
39. b4 Ke7
40. Kg2 Kf6
41. b5 axb5
42. axb5 Ke7
43. Kh3 Kf6
44. c6 bxc6
45. b6 *

[/pgn]

The main lesson I think I need to take from this game is that I need to push more pawns in the end game to create counter-play instead of just passively siting back.
