I’ve been getting conflicting advice on the thought process you should have each move. While some suggest having a checklist like SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) or Checks Captures Threats etc and other considerations like weak pieces in yours and your opponents position, others suggest that chess is more subconscious and that you should have candidate moves coming to you that you then evaluate.
I cannot imagine doing a thorough mental checklist every single move in against game without suffering from mental fatigue or loss of time.
However, I am still a beginner so I could do with more deliberate thinking and evaluation.
What is your take on this.
