Checks, captures, threats: Nf2 is almost mate, forcing the K back to g2, and this sets up a discovered check on next move when the knight moves again so should definitely be considered.
So the question to really ask here is: After Nf2 Kg2, can the knight move somewhere useful with this free move? Nd3 (the Rook on c2 is doing the checking via discovery) would allow you to take the Rook on e1 next move.
