I'm running into difficultly figuring out the redox of Nd2Fe14B with nitric acid. I know what boron does: B 3 HNO3 → H3BO3 3 NO2 B 3 H2O → H3BO3 3 H 3 e- NO3- 2 H e- → NO2 H2O
Yet I can find a solid answer to the redox of Nd and Fe with nitric acid. My procudure calls for the complete dissolving of said alloy, so I'm assuming I need to use dilute first then concentrated.
Note: Link me to any source related or traceable to the sciencemaddness forum and I WILL delete you comment. ALSO, please PLEASE include reason, half reactions, and/or sources. I'm very much a newb at chemistry and want to learn more, so anything that could expand my knowledge is appreciated.
No this isn't homework, this is a pet project of mine
