Hey smart people 👋 i have a question for yall about my granny's process of cleaning her drain. Quick story time : 2 weeks ago I noticed that my shower drain was clogged ( probably hairs ) and possibly also the pipes because the are old as shit (like 1960 old). I dont have drain cleaner at home and befor buying some I asked my mom and granny if they have some I can use. So my grandma said that I just need some baking soda and vinegar essence. She said I just have to put a spoon full of baking soda into the drain and then pour about half a cup of the vinegar essence into the drain, wait until it stops bubbling and the flush it all down with a lot of boiling water. So I tried it because I had the ingredients and now if got a clogged drain that stinks like vinegar. I dont know shit about chemistry but I know that store bought drain cleaner oxidizes the organic stuff and breaks it down so it can be flushed. So my question is does this reaction between vinegar and baking soda actually do something ( If yes what did I do wrong? ) and if not then why the hell do so many people beleve this? ( I googled this method and there were plenty of articles claiming to do it like this) thanks in advance to all the people that actually understand this witchcraft XD
