Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I am having some trouble wrapping my head around unexpected results. The target compound accumulates in plant tissue in response to pathogens. In pure samples (no matrix), the target compound elutes at 4 minutes. However, when running pathogen-infected plant tissue, we see a peak at 5 minutes and this peak has MRM transitions that resemble our target analyte. In uninfected plant tissue, we do not see the 5 minute peak. Is it possible that this could be our target analyte behaving differently in plant sample versus pure sample?
