Nub to begin?

My wife and I are interested in starting chastity. I emailed the folks at holy trainer and it seems like the best size for me at my most most flaccid(2.5 in) is the nub. I find that a little scary, but I know the advice is to go smaller than you think. Is the nub okay for a beginner? Could I go with the nano or am I better off going with the nub? (Also advice on ring sizing would be appreciated as well)
