Wear Evotion Orion without base ring?

I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s feasible/possible to take off the base ring of the Evotion Orion while keeping the cage attached via piercing (mostly while sleeping to avoid painful night erections, but it would be good to know if it’s possible to wear without it in general).
I know there is the shaft-only Bijou model, but having the option to keep the base ring to prevent erections during play or just throughout the day in general would be nice.
