I had heard of Chappell about.. maybe three months ago?.. in passing while reading an article about JoJo Siwa claiming to be the "queen of gay pop" LOLLLL… and the writer wrote something to the effect of "there are some actual contenders for that title.. to name a few:" and Chappell was one of those artists. As a simple queer man, I see "contender for queen of gay pop" and I click. Simple as that. I heard her song Good Luck, Babe! and needless to say, I was very impressed.

Time sort of dances by.. and I am reading another article.. this time the Paper Mag piece about Kesha's comeback because Joyride is a total bop, and there was her name again. Chappell Roan.

If I see a name two times like that, as a generally light reader of pop culture — not an avid one — then that signals to me that someone is on the come up. So I set time aside because now I’m invested, right?

This morning I woke up singing the song in my head .. and I was already halfway through spelling out H O T T O G O in my head as I came to, so even REM sleep me is bopping to this shit while I am unconscious. Also, hi :) I think I am pretty certain I am a new Chappell Roan fan. Have only ever been in one fandom before.. and I have her tattooed on my leg (Gaga).. and that is why I am saying this hasn’t happened in 15 years because (I am not comparing her to Gaga btw) the addictiveness of the music is comparable to that time. Her stage performances actually heavily remind me of Freddie Mercury (a comparison I would never make lightly). It’s just so .. fucking.. GOOD. Jesus Christ. I need to sleep. Gn. lol.
