TLDR:Ginger Ale is sprite by a different company. Change My View
(OPās Delta: I changed my View. View change at bottom)
Ginger Ale is tinted sprite. When I was a kid I didnāt understand the difference. But then I tried it and realized I liked itā¦ because itās just sprite. I can see how thereās a slight taste difference but itās not a āmeaningfulā one. So to define āmeaningfulā a reference is coke and Dr.pepper are meaningfully different. Coke and Pepsi are not.
Now, with both coke vs Pepsi and ginger ale vs sprite. There IS a minuscule difference in taste. I will admit that. But does it really make a difference? Iād say not.
I can however say that I prefer coke with a burger and Pepsi with pizza. So I can see why in some instances youād want ginger ale instead of sprite. Like if youāre mixing an alcoholic beverage. But I donāt drink alcohol so CBA.
Hereās the ingredients for both Ginger Ale (Canada Dry) and Sprite. I think the biggest difference Is who owns them; and that they changed the order of the last two ingredients.
Ginger Ale (specifically Canada Dry): carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, sodium benzoate, natural flavors, caramel color -says, āsodium benzoate (preservative)ā -owned by Keurig Dr Pepper company
Sprite: carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, natural flavors, sodium benzoate -says, āsodium benzoate (to preserve taste)ā -owned by coca-cola company
Edit: Thank you to everyone who commented. Iām so glad to see yāall taking a break from the political stuff to have a laugh with me and shit on me over this.
I have changed my view on the subject. Some of yāall listed good reasons for the difference. The most notable being other brands having a difference and that lemon-lime and ginger ale sodas taste different when mixed with other beverages. I did also appreciate the explanations on how yāall perceive the taste and its descriptions (usually for other versions of the drink) Those were my favorite Iāll have to try some of the ones yāall mentioned.

I'm addressing the claim that ginger ale has no meaningful difference, the difference is the flavor. If you can't tell the difference, that doesn't mean there isn't one. Some people are colorblind, that doesn't mean colors don't exist.
