The messaging is everywhere: rich people (say, 90-99th percentile) got that way because of privilege, exploitation, and bias. I think that messaging is both false and damaging. If you’re a young black/brown/poor/female/etc person and all you hear is that the cards are stacked against you, that nothing you do will matter because you’re not part of the privileged class, you’re not even going to try. I think this is extremely damaging. Poor people would be better off if they knew there was a way out, and if they understood the sacrifices well-off people make for their careers.
People who own businesses and c suite employees will bring home that range in income... and the businesses they are associated with will donate profits to politicians... which is why you'll see them at political rallies and dinners shaking hands with politicians.
Of course, the 90th percentile of income wasn't what I said, I said 99th percentile.
The corporations overwhelmingly "vote" to further their own interests
While we don't see every single person in the 90th percentiles voting a specific way, they do benefit when their financial interests align with these giant corporations
So ultimately, as the gap between lower and upper classes divides, we do see these groups attempting to gain/hold power. Maybe it's not through politicians, maybe it's through local elections to make sure that no public housing is built nearby, that their tax dollars benefit institutions they've invested into, that the real estate they've invested into doesn't decline in price thus impacting their net worth
Again, it's hard to prove that people at the 99th percentile have 0 connection to politics, but broadly speaking (aka the 90th) it's not just buying politicians
Wealth is being hoarded, it's hard to prove that what I'm saying isn't accurate.

Disagree based on what?
the 99th percentile of wealthy families have a very clear link to politics and political influence
It'd probably be harder to prove they have absolutely 0 link, seriously, of the richest families in the US can you prove they have made 0 political campaign donations? That their donations don't immediately impact policy in the US?
