Hey all! I've been currently enjoying making some colorful byzantine micromaille necklaces with anodized aluminum, 20 7/64 sized rings. I purchase the rings from The Ring Lord and usually make sure the rings come together really well, so the final piece won't be scratchy or catching on things, but I always worry I'm just missing something, no matter how many times I run it through my hands.
Then I got to thinking about Viking Knit and how running it through a drawplate helps makes those pieces stretch and smooth out, but I have never seen nor read of anyone who does this with their chainmaille single-chain pieces and wanted to know if anyone here has had any experience with doing this procedure? I Google'd my question but did not find an answer nor video anywhere about possibly doing this procedure.
Most people seem to just throw their pieces in a tumbler instead (walnut hulls, I think?), but I don't have a tumbler setup. I do have drawplates around here somewhere, but I thought I'd reach out to those of you with more experience, so I didn't just test it myself by making a piece and end up ruining it :)
Thanks in advance!
