I have seen several posts about making a chainmail blanket. First is the weight. Even in aluminum doing European 4-in-1 the weight would be too much even for a grown adult. That is regardless of ring and wite guage sizes. Not to mention the time to weave a blanket that would be large enough to cover an average person from shoulders to feet and wide enough to actually touch the bed while one lays on their side.
There is an alternative that still falls into the chain-mail family. It is called ring-mail. The photo above uses 16ga(SWG) 3/8 inche rings(silver coloured ones) joined together with 18ga(SWG) rings (the black ones) this has the advantage of being still weighty enough yet weaving much faster.
The black rings in the photo are blackened stainless. This is not a weighted blanket but will be a pair of chauces when finished.
