Hi everyone! I am new here and am very grateful to have found this subreddit. I apologise for my bad English, it's not my first language!
In my mid 20s I was misdiagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (I was later correctly diagnosed as Autistic), and was given high doses of a SSRI. During the time I took the medication, which was a little over a year, I had a number of adverse reactions to it, the most severe of which were fatigue and extreme sweating. When I stopped taking the SSRI, the sweating disappeared progressively after 1 year, but the fatigue didn't. It actually got worse throughout the years and now here I am at 34, barely able to function most days.
I have always wondered if the SSRI could have been the initial cause for Cfs. It may as well just be a coincidence, and of course it doesn't matter too much since now I do have this condition and what started it isn't going to change it, but still, I am curious to know if anyone here maybe has had a similar experience?
I also don't want to discourage anyone from taking psychiatric medication, as this is only my personal experience and I know that they are a huge help to many people!
Thank you for reading!
