I am effectively bedridden, can stumble to the bathroom 10 feet from the bed. Sometimes I have to crawl back.
Trying to figure out a way to lie back in the tub so my caregiver can wash me. I can’t sit without assistance, and I can’t sit for more than about 30 seconds to a minute even with assistance.
I am a very small person and when I lean back in the tub my body slides forward. A lot. It puts me at a very awkward and uncomfortable position. And also too deep in the water to be washed well. This is a great position to rinse though.
Is anyone in a similar situation and have any ideas on how to prevent myself from sliding? I thought of a neck pillow that suction cups but I’m still going to need to press my feet against the tub to hold myself up, and I just can’t do that.
Another option I thought of was a long bath mat with lumbar support, but that’s $50 and it’s large enough that it’s kind of a pain to hang it up to dry. So my partner isn’t super delighted about having a gigantic thing in our very tiny bathroom. He’s willing to deal with it if it’s necessary, but since it’s so expensive, I think it’s worth considering other options.
Does anyone have any ideas?
This is the bathmat I was talking about by the way, on Amazon.
