Hi there, thanks for clicking on my post and showing an interest. A while back I decided to create my own post, and I received a surprising number of nice replies from people. Unfortunately while I did have some nice conversations, in the end it didn't work out so I'm back to give this another try.
So I guess so much for the introduction, now to get to the meat of the post.
Some facts to know about me;
* I'm 40 years old
* I'm from a small town in the Netherlands, and love the small town atmosphere and nature near here
* I work full time in IT, the easiest to describe it would be to say I'm a programmer though it's a bit more nuanced then that
* I love reading. I mainly read fantasy books and historical novels, and I also enjoy collecting books and have amassed quite a library through the years
* I also enjoy playing video games on my PC, board games with friends, Science fiction, long walks in nature and ancient cultures and mythology and I love traveling to countries to see ancient sites in person
* I'm introverted (INTJ)
* I love pets, and have been the proud owner of servant to a cat for a year now
* I'm childfree; I don't want children, either biological or adopted
* I'm left leaning politically
* I've been doing volunteer work for over 25 years
* I'm an Atheist
* I don't smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs
Now for some bad qualities I have, which have probably contributed to me being single; * I don't enjoy going out to bars/ clubs / partying nor have I ever enjoyed that, that's just not my idea of a fun time. I do enjoy going out to eat at a restaurant or going to a concert though. * I'm not the best at small talk * I suffer from a form of depression (dysthymia if you're interested), enough that it can get me down and affect me but not enough that I'm unable to work or function in day to day life * I would not describe myself as attractive, but have been told I'm mistaken; https://imgur.com/a/KtAM9Cm * I'm working on my weight, it's getting to a healthy level again but I'm not there yet, still about 10Kg to go.
But obviously not everything is bad, I also have some good qualities; * I consider myself fairly intelligent and although I don't have a college degree, I do have a good job * I've been working full time for 20 years and have made the most out of every professional opportunity I've been given to get to where I am * I've been told that where I lack in confidence about myself and my personal life, I don't lack that at all when it comes to work. Which means I do have it in me to be confident * I've been told I have a funny but dry sense of humor * I've been told I'm a very good listener and advice giver * I'm loyal, dependable and always willing to help
So what am I looking for? * I'm looking for a serious monogamous relationship. * I'm looking for someone intelligent, childfree and left leaning politically. * I'm looking to meet someone who puts as much effort into having and keeping up a conversation as I will, as hard as that might be for me at times. * I'm looking for someone who makes me feel special and wanted, as I would make sure them feel special, wanted and loved. * I'm looking for someone to accept me for who I am, with all my flaws, as I would accept them. * I'm looking for someone that believes I could make their life better by me being in it, just as my life would be better by having them in it.
And while it's true that opposites can attract, I do think it would help a great deal if you share at least some of my hobbies/ interests.
