Everyone always talks about winning the floor lottery, but I’m feeling like I’m winning the door lottery! I have started stripping the paint from this interior door in my house, and the wood underneath is this beautiful reddish color! You can see the natural color in the untreated area that was under the doorknob hardware around the hole. I just think it’s so pretty, and even if it takes me a year and a case of Citristrip, I’m determined to unearth this gleaming treasure (and any others in this house like it). I don’t know much about wood; does anyone happen to know what kind of wood this is? I’m in New England, and my house was built in 1895. I suspect this door is original to the house.

Oh, ok. Well, I think that wood is pretty, with its red, glowing tones. I suppose it wouldn’t be what some people would want as exposed woodwork, but I’m pretty excited about it!
