Need advice on blind style
Post Body

I’m trying to figure out what style of blinds would best match my houses style. It’s a 1920s four square in Western New York.

Right now I have those cheap IKEA paper curtains but it’s time to upgrade to big girl blinds.

Ideally, I’d like something darker to match the more Victorian smoking parlour vibe the room has. I considered faux wood blinds but I can only fit a 1” depth and all the faux wood blinds I’ve found have draw strings in that depth (I have a cat, so I worry about her safety.)

I know roller blinds are time period accurate, right? But I’d also like something a wee bit more insulating if that’s possible. Winters are expensive around here.

Or should I be seriously considering a combination of blinds and curtains?

(They don’t need to be black out either, though if that was an option that would be great because then I can use them in the bedrooms as well.)
