Hello, Redditors of Central Illinois. I'll be moving to Peoria on August 14th September 9th and my wife will be following a few weeks later. We'd love to make some new friends in the area so that we don't feel so isolated when we get out there. We're both 33 years old and we'll be bringing two girls, a 2-year-old and a 7-year-old with autism. We're both pretty nerdy and would love to find similar people, but we're open to all kinds of people as long as the judgement is minimal. We're not religious and we're more liberal than some.
As for specific interests, I love all genres of movies, but horror is by far my favorite genre, with comedy and action being close behind. I especially love going to see movies in theaters. Bonus points of you can tell me the best theaters to go too and which to avoid. For tv, I really like Doctor Who, Star Wars, Marvel, Preacher, X-Files, and tons of others. I'm really into 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons and have been getting into Pathfinder 2e lately. For video games I have an Xbox Series X and a Switch. I prefer games like Gears 5, Forza, Titanfall, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and Yu-Gi-Oh: Legacy of the Duelist. I have a PLA printer that I'm slowly getting better with. I also collects swords and helmets and have some interest in cosplay as well. I collect Star Wars and Marvel Lego sets.
My wife prefers TV to movies, with her favorites being Outlander, Schitt’s Creek, and Frasier. She’s been reading a lot lately, especially supernatural romance books like the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas. She loves the Harry Potter series, but does not support the views of J.K. Rowling. She’s a practicing pagan and runs a small metaphysical business where she designs, makes and sells tools for practicing paganism and decorations.
Our favorite card game is Cards Against Humanity and we enjoy playing Scrabble, Settlers of Catan, the occasional game of monopoly and countless others. We recently bought the Um, Actually game from Dropout and we're looking forward to giving it a try. Neither of us drink or smoke cigarettes, but we have no problems with either whatsoever.
Hopefully we sound like your kind of people and we can get to know each other.
