Honestly know nothing about phones. Could anyone give some insight on a good one?

I've had an iPhone twice and hated it. I'm currently using a galaxy s7. I'm about to upgrade but was wondering if there is another competitor against Apple or galaxy? I was looking at a pixel 2 or something like that but again I don't know anything really about phones. I like androids flexibility and capability to just plug it into my pc and do something. I honestly hate everything about iPhones so I'll just stay away from that. Any advice in a good android phone or maybe even a Windows one would work. Price isn't really an option.
