Okay so I’m from Austin, have been there my whole life. Around 2005 we started to see a huge influx of people who worked in tech and finance, then that really picked up in the 2010’s. I’m talking people with money; wealth. Young people who have hit the jackpot one way or another and can now afford a lifestyle that’s probably ~$200,000 / yr. Then around 2017 we started to really see an influx of people who have recognizable names; celebrities. I went to school with Lance Armstrong’s kid and he was definitely kind of put on a pedestal but now it’s last names like McConaughey, Bullock, Rogan- it’s nuts. And not like living here part time or vacation homes. Many of these celebrities reside here most of the year, traveling to California or set locations from Austin- Bergstrom Intl Airport. This isn’t a discussion for the ways in which it’s negatively affected the living environment but rather a question asking y’all what you guys think has caused celebrities to move to Austin, Texas.
