So today I was able to get out and get a few things. And now I’m using a cobra 29 and I put a piece of magnetic mesh screen like you would use for a fence on the floor of my garage. It’s about 2 feet across by 10 feet long. I removed the rubber feet from the stool added a baking pan and slapped my small antenna right in the middle of it. I am able to calibrate the antenna, although I do not know how accurate it is.
I have ordered self-contained SWR unit and I’m still researching antenna although I am leaning towards something called a buddy pole. I am able to hear a little bit better, but I still cannot get anybody to talk back to me. That I am probably only transmitting out all of about 10 feet.
So that’s the latest and here’s some pictures advice laughs eye rolls appreciated as I try and build a system that actually will work.
