prefacing by saying iâm asking for a buddy, i still ride a 2020 ninja 400. he upgraded to his 2005 cbr1000rr in december. he was aware of the killswitch problem with honda cbrâs, especially in the old ones but his is utterly fucked. anytime itâs used and flipped back, he has to press ridiculously hard on it to get it to recognize that the killswitch is deactivated and even then it doesnât always work. he has to wait and come back to it later. he researched a killswitch delete for his specific bike but couldnât find one. i thought this would be the best place to ask
good to know. personally would rather a fix as well, but went to jump the gun on a delete. wonât get the chance to look at it today, but should have plenty of time to take it apart tomorrow. he said sprayed lube just on the pivot point. i wasnât personally there
i believe itâs got 27,000 (might be wrong, but i know itâs close to 30,000) so it definitely isnât low mileage. he already sprayed lube and checked wiring so he brought it up to our local sports bike mechanic and he was the first one that mentioned the âissue with honda killswitchesâ and suggested a delete. not thinking ahead, we didnât ask exactly how to do the delete so if i canât find a sure answer here weâll probably just take it back to him. thanks for your advice though!
thanks man. going to look for it right after we get off work
he doesnât use it either anymore, but weâre a tight knit group and he isnât the only one he allows to ride his bike and doesnât want to risk someone that doesnât know better hitting the switch and not knowing how to get it going

haha no it isnât to make it pop and bang. he doesnât use the killswitch himself after the first couple times. weâre in a tight riding group though and he lets other riders ride his bike every one in a while and a couple that he let ride it hit the killswitch so he just wants to avoid that problem. for the record, i donât trust other enough to ride my bike so i donât lend my own out. thatâs just what he does even ill advised
