My newly adopted cat only feels safe if I pet her with my feet.

Post Body

I don’t know much about her history as I adopted her from a rescue. It took about two weeks for me to be able to pet the top of her head. After her first week with me she came out of hiding and would follow me around. She would rub against things, tail high and vibrating. She wanted me to pet her, but was definitely scared about it. She would head butt my hand when I put it out to her and let me give her little scritches but if I moved too much at all she would hiss and scratch. She did not hold back. My hands are very scared now 😂. It has been a month. She’s moved from sleeping under the bed, to on a blanket next to bed on the floor and now on a blanket on the bed. We’re making progress! And now anytime we’re in bed and I’m not under the covers she will give me a little chirp and rub up on my feet. She loves it! It’s the only time she purrs. And don’t worry I’m very clean. These are my out the shower socks. 😆 I’m a weirdo who doesn’t like my feet to touch the bare ground and get dirty. It’s so cute. After she does this for a bit she’ll sleep between my ankles and against my leg. I love my little Bijou and I’m hoping she can learn to trust me in time. 🩷
