I have tried everything.

• Cat scratches of various materials - carpet, rope, cardboard. Tried putting them near areas he claws, tried sturdy ones, flexible ones, flat and across. Tried catnip sprays to make it more attractive with no luck.

• Deterrent sprays of citrus, cinnamon, lemongrass etc.

• Environmental deterrents and sounds to discourage him, water squirting etc.

Two of our cats are fine

We have a newly built house, he has already pretty much ruined one of the rooms carpets and is starting to destroy new sofas and a rug.

We have tried trimming his nails, and claw-caps - which he chews off and gets aggressive when we try to put them on

What can we do to prevent this, and what solutions are there that we have not tried?
