What do I feed my cats?

I have two indoor cats. One is 5 and one is 11. I was basically scolded for my cat food choice at my local pet store by the cashier. I normally just get Purina Indoor Cat. My cats seem happy and healthy.. Is wet food essential also? What is a good brand of dry food?
