My 10lb cat will sometimes get on top of my 80lb golden retriever and start kneading and purring. The golden is pretty chill and just lays there while this happens. At first I thought the cat was just being affectionate and I thought it was adorable how well they get along. But one day I paid closer attention when it happened and noticed how the cat would also move his back legs from side to side. My cat likes to lay on me and knead too, but never moves his back legs. Then he got off the dog and sure enough his penis was sticking out and he started licking it.

This happens in front of me once a week. I’m guessing it occurs more frequently though since I’m not watching them 24/7. The cat never targets anyone or anything else. They are both males and are neutered.

Is this common behavior? Can I deter the cat from molesting the dog? I don’t know if the cat is actually “finishing”, but thinking about the dog constantly having cat cum on him and me and others petting him is just… I would just rather redirect my cat’s desires to something else like a blanket or stuffed toy no one uses.
