I am looking for the best quality dry food for my 4 adult cats. I am switching off of the medicated Royal Canin Calm dry food because they no longer need it, and I am looking for the best possible alternative for a dry food. I think I can say cost is not an issue just because in comparison to the $70 for an 8.8lb bag I am currently paying, everything else should (hopefully) be cheaper than that.
From what I understand, cat food should have this makeup:
crude protein 26-30%
fat 9%
carbs not more than 10%
fiber 3-5%
And should not contain:
animal by-products
grains and fillers in any substantial amount (corn, wheat, soy)
BHA/BHT/ethoxyquin/artificial colors/propylene glycol
sugars
rendered fats
I found Open Farms and was looking at their RawMix options. It certainly sounds great that it contains actual freeze-dried raw meat. Does anyone have any suggestions for food or comments on this particular food? https://openfarmpet.com/en-us/products/open-prairie-recipe-for-cats/#
