Hi catcare community!
I am planning to get a cat some time in the next few weeks and am very excited! I'm already starting to plan little things I can do to set myself (& kitty) up for a better transition to my home based on stuff I've read here and other resources.
One major question I have right now is - because I work 9-5 - I was thinking about leaving my cat in a slightly confined space when I'm away (and when I'm sleeping). So it would have access to my bedroom with a huge window and bathroom ~ 300sqft of space to wander ~ but not the living room and kitchen.
I'd just like to start by making sure that unsupervised time for the new cat would be in a space where possible destruction can be minimized. My eventual plan is, when I'm sure she's ready I can give her all access. I was planning to move my plants into the living room to avoid chewing issues as well and the litterbox will be in the bathroom!
Would that be a good/bad idea? any tips for how to make that work?
