I mean you try making a game look lush and vibrant where the object is to catch these entities that are so tiny they’re easy to miss anyways, like Oddish.
Sure I don’t enjoy the newer games but I never thought they were that visually pleasing to begin with outside of sprite work for some of the Pokémon. Yet people shit on scarlet, Violet, and arceus because they don’t look good on switch, and part of that also comes from their only other 3D games being on 3ds, and even then they’re not done in a similar way.
Sure it’s nice to see some of the Pokémon interact in the wild but there are already games for that anyways. The mainline series to to collect, train, and be the greatest Pokémon trainer ever.
But another thing I hate is seeing people compare it to other Nintendo games, ignoring the fact each game has its own style. Mario is cartoony and bright. Zelda is a bit dark at times and more realistic looking, like a dnd setting. Pokémon has always had a bit of an anime vibe to it, and I think that the open space, especially with the two most recent games, requires some imagination visually.
Is it ok they did that, no. But I’m willing to cut them some slack with everything going on mechanically. Besides, no game is perfect, world -1 anyone?
