Hi everyone! My name is Emily Rice. This fall I am entering my final year of undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Ottawa. As part of my final year, I have the opportunity to conduct my own research study in the form of an Honours thesis. I am currently recruiting participants for my Honour’s thesis project under the supervision of Dr. Peggy J. Kleinplatz, Professor, Faculty of Medicine and Clinical Professor, School of Psychology, University of Ottawa. Please see the following for specific participant criteria and details about the study:

For this study, I am looking for straight and gay men from 18-80 years of age currently in a sexually active, committed and monogamous relationship of at least two years duration. I am also looking for straight and gay men from 18-80 years of age currently in a casual sexual relationship. For this study, a monogamous committed relationship refers to a relationship where love has been expressed between the two individuals and where there is a commitment to maintain that love. The criteria for a casual sexual relationship will be left to your discretion, as the definition of this relationship is highly variable. The purpose of this study is to investigate any differences and/or commonalities that may exist in sexual communication and sexual satisfaction among gay and straight men who are in sexually active, committed, monogamous relationships or casual sexual relationships. Participation in this study will consist of filling out an online survey designed to measure sexual communication and sexual satisfaction. The survey should take 20 to 30 minutes to complete and can be filled out at whatever time and place is convenient for you.
