What’s the best order to play the main series Castlevania games?

Hey. I’m completely new to the castlevania series, I’ve heard of it’s impact on the gaming industry and I wanted to see what the series had to offer. I want to play through all the main series of titles, but replace any of the older games with remakes since I am not one for old-school difficulty. Looking at the various wiki entries and blog posts it’s been really hard to piece together a concise order, what’s a remake / retelling, and what’s it’s own thing entirely.
